Santa Dash

On Friday, 10th December children and staff across the school were invited to attempt the Santa Dash. The course was set out on the school field and had many twists and turns for our enthusiastic runners. The main focus this year was mental health and I cannot think of a better incentive to link healthy lifestyles and raising funds for the children! The motto of this incentive was, ‘By the children, for the children’.

After a warm up hosted by our young Sports leaders, children were then escorted to the photo booth to have a class photo. Shortly after, the children were lined up ready for the dash. Each year group had the course explained to them and then one of our Sport Leaders hosted the run by becoming the ‘hare’ with the children asked to follow. At the end of each dash the children came running in through Santa’s Hats (cones) where they collected a sticker and had the choice to collect a candy cane. Drinks were then given out by the Sports Leaders.

This was a very successful event run by the Sport Leaders, they did us all proud! Feedback received from teachers about our sports leaders included that empathy was shown to our younger children, they gave constant encouragement and they were very professional and made it fun for all!

A huge thank you to you to all parents and carers for taking the time to help your child collect sponsors; Miss Belcher for giving up her time all day to take photos and help out, the PTFA for supplying the drinks and of course our very own talented Sport Leaders. You were amazing!

I am delighted announce that together we managed to raise a staggering £4732.41 which will go towards purchasing some new exciting sports equipment for all the children to enjoy!

Well done to Arthur Coultrup and Amelia Francis both in Year 1 and Alaya Uddin in Year 3 for collecting quite a substantial amount of money. I am blown away by the amount of support that our school community has given and I thank each and every one of you that has made this one so special!

Thank you for your continued support and I will report back on any new equipment that the children have decided to use the money for.
